Medical City Dallas is seeking a community and public relations intern for the spring 2018 semester. The intern will be trained in the inner workings and aspects of the public relations field, gain visibility in the local community, and be able to provide concrete deliverables. When the internship is successfully complete, the intern will be ready to enter the PR field.

Potential Responsibilities (under close supervision of the Community and Public Relations Team):

  • Fully support hospital’s community and PR plan, and execute it in different phases
  • Create and curate engaging content
  • Communicate and build relationships with current or prospect partners
  • Effectively utilize hospital’s social media
  • Create and distribute press releases
  • Assist in administrative duties
  • Build and update media lists and databases
  • Schedule, coordinate, and attend various events

Requirements:

  • Strong desire to learn along with professional drive
  • Solid understanding of social media
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Efficiency at MS Office
  • Passion for the PR industry and its best practices
  • Current enrollment as an undergraduate in a related major at a college or university
  • Personal computer and cell phone
  • Reliable transportation for traveling to and from community events and meetings related to internship training
  • Preferred: efficiency with Adobe Photoshop and video-making software such as iMovie, FinalCut Pro

Additional requirements:

  • Meet requirements as defined by college or university in order to obtain college credit
  • Complete a background check and drug screening
  • Complete a Confidentiality and Security agreement
  • Meet with Medical City Dallas employee health nurse to go over health requirements
  • Attend hospital orientation
  • Sign agreement of understanding that internship is unpaid and there is no entitlement to a job at the conclusion of the internship
