From a house on fire to a broken family heirloom, we take a look at some of the CCPA community’s worst Christmas disasters!

The holiday season, while a favorite time for many, is also a time of great stress. With the entire family gathering in one space, kids running in every direction, and too many cooks in the kitchen, the day can quickly turn from good to not-so-good.

Anything can happen in the blink of an eye, forever marking that Christmas as the year when that happened. So, we wanted to do a little digging and see if our CCPA community had any Christmas disasters to share with us. Here are some of the worst Christmas disasters that we gathered!

The House is on Fire!

When the whole family gathers, there can be a lot of mouths to feed. So one CCPA student has a tradition of deep frying a turkey for everyone to enjoy. This is a process that is typically performed outside in a large deep fryer. But when you live in a state where the temperatures get into the negatives during the winter, going outside for anything longer than 2 minutes is out of the question. So, with the weather being unbearably cold, the family’s chefs decided to take their deep-frying tradition to the garage. But this innovative idea quickly turned to disaster when the flames from the deep fryer caught on oil on the ground. While everyone else was inside enjoying the festivities, the garage was quickly starting to catch flames. Luckily though, they stomped out the fire before anything worse could happen. A true Christmas disaster (a.k.a, a burnt down house) was avoided. No need for any firemen this year!

911, What’s your Emergency?

Every kid has done it at some point, right? They’ve picked up the phone and decided to dial a bunch of random numbers and unintentionally – or intentionally – dialed 911. Well that’s what one of our CCPA students did on Christmas day. And as you can guess, soon after, the cops showed up. Nothing turns a day of joy and relaxation into stress and chaos quite like the cops showing up at your front door on Christmas morning.

Not the Precious China!

We all have that one family heirloom – one that is passed down from generation to generation. And it often takes the form of something delicate and extremely expensive or valuable. So when one CCPA student accidentally broke the precious family heirloom, Christmas took a bit of a sour turn. She cried as the broken pieces were swept up from the floor and discarded. Talk about a Christmas disaster!

Who Let Him In The House

Christmas in the country is peaceful, quiet except for the happy sounds of family and friends. But country gatherings sometimes attract uninvited guests.

When a raccoon found it’s way inside the house this family did what any country clan would do — one person held open the door, three cousins hilariously herded the cute invader, and an uncle gently punted the furry friend into the front yard.

Grandma never left the kitchen, grandpa calmly rocked on the porch, uncles commented on the proceedings, and everyone else cheered the eviction of the scared creature. Everything went on as before as if it happened every day.
