The Office of Student Academic Engagement and Success has made the following updates to all requests by undergraduates to change their method of course engagement during the fall of 2020.

Students can now use this survey link https://smu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cD7YocxG6SdaDWd to request to transition to remote status or to cancel an existing remote status.

The Office of Student Academic Engagement and Success has made the following updates to all requests by undergraduates to change their method of course engagement during the fall of 2020.

New Requests to Elect Remote Status:

Students should only make this request if they intend to stay remote for the entirety of the semester for all of their courses. After September 4th, reassignment to a flex course status may not be possible.

Students living off-campus may request remote status at any point during the semester. Students living on campus may request remote status but will need to provide additional information for Resident Life and Student Housing to evaluate the request.

After a student has received approval, it is their responsibility to communicate their change of status with all professors. Requests will be updated each Monday by 5 p.m.

Request to Remove Remote Status:

Students who received a fall 2020 housing exemption to live off-campus due to their desire for a remote semester may not cancel their request unless they plan to return to on-campus housing.

All other students may request to be assigned to a Red-Blue rotation but they must first ask their faculty members if there is sufficient space on both Red and Blue days for them to join the class in person. After completing the survey, students will receive an email request with instructions on how to document that there is sufficient space in each course. Students may not return to in-person instruction until they have completed their documentation and received approval. After approval is complete, students will be assigned to a rotation schedule. Requests to be assigned to Red-Blue rotation will be updated each Monday by 5 p.m.
