Whether or not you can believe it, we are now almost done with the fifth week of school; the Fall semester is in full swing! And that means it’s time to meet the CCPA 2021 Fall fellows! We have some familiar faces as well as some fresh faces, all ready and excited to get to work this semester! Read on to see who will be writing the blogs you’ll be reading!
Annabel Bailey is a senior majoring in Corporate Communication and Public Affairs (CCPA) and minoring in Applied Physiology and Health Management (APHM). She is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana but plans to move to London after graduation where she hopes to use her communication degree to work for a company in the entertainment industry or in the health and wellness sector.
Annabel is the social media chair on the executive board of the Applied Physiology Club here on campus. She also serves as a Student Wellness Champion Caption – an organization that brings health and wellness related programs to the SMU community.
Annabel enjoys all things health and wellness, fitness classes, vegan cooking and baking, traveling, acting and film. She is very excited to be joining the 2021 Fall fellows and is eager to help create engaging content for the CCPA and SMU community.
Brennah Ungar was born in Canton, Ohio and is a senior at Southern Methodist University. She is majoring in Public Relations and Strategic Communication with a minor in Political Science. Brennah is an active member of her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega.
After graduation, Brennah plans to move to and work in Washington D.C. Brennah is passionate about music, running, and sports and is excited to be a fellow this semester.
Alex is a senior double majoring in sports management and public relations with a minor in history. He grew up in Dallas, Texas but went to high school in Pebble Beach, California and then moved back to Dallas upon graduating from high school.
Currently, Alex works as a Texas Rangers College Brand ambassador and interns with SportStars. During the school year, Alex works in the Hegi Career Center in Hughes Trigg serving as a Peer Consultant. His previous experience includes interning for Northern Texas PGA and serving as the recruitment chair for two years for his fraternity Sigma Nu (Iota Theta).
After graduating from SMU, Alex hopes to work in a sports agency, sports consulting firm or for a professional team. His goal is to work as a sports agent representing clients in either professional football, basketball and or hockey.
In his free time, Alex enjoys listening to music, ranging from classic rock to modern hip hop and everything in between, as well as watching movies and staying active.
Kate is a senior double majoring in Public Relations and Strategic Communication and Journalism with a minor in Corporate Communication and Public Affairs. She is from Tyler, TX.
She currently works as a communications intern for SMU’s Office of the Provost. Her past internship experiences include working as an internal communications intern for the Swiss chocolate company Lindt & Sprüngli and a digital marketing intern for Front Desk Dallas, a local office furniture store.
In addition to her internships, Kate is a staff writer for SMU’s student-led newspaper The Daily Campus. She previously served as a producer for SMU’s student-led broadcasting program The Daily Update and was an international student leader for the International Student and Scholar Services Office.
On her days off, you’ll likely find Kate walking around the Dallas Arboretum or relaxing in a hammock by White Rock Lake, as she loves spending time outdoors. She previously studied human rights abroad in Poland and Ukraine with the SMU Human Rights Program.
Kate is excited to join the CCPA fellowship team this year, “I’m grateful to be a member of this team and to support the CCPA department in any way I can,” she said.
