SMU-in-London: Communication Overview

This is a 5-week program, now in its 35th year.

The program’s courses are available to majors and non-majors alike.

Throughout the program, professors organize and lead specific site visits that relate to course content. Students have the opportunity to learn in environments such as Cambridge University, the British Museum, and the British Film Institute. Students are encouraged to visit cultural and historic attractions, including the National Gallery, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London.

A cultural trip to Scotland is included this year. Students travel by train from London to Edinburgh where they tour the medieval city’s major sites. Students can take an optional weekend bus tour through the Scottish countryside, viewing the dramatic scenery of the Scottish highlands, the coastal area, ancient castles, and famous Loch Ness.

Students will have two long weekends during the term that make it possible to visit the European mainland or explore areas of Britain such as the Lake District, Wales or the Cornish coast. Such travels are outside of the planned program and at the discretion of the student, but with the approval of the Director.

More information about the program can be found on the SMU Study Abroad website.

The applications for this program close February 1st, so make sure to visit Armstrong Commons this afternoon to learn more about the program and meet some of the faculty.
